World of warcraft cloud gaming

Playing World of Warcraft on NVIDIA GeForce Now with bad hotel Wi-Fi has me convinced that it's dark magic — can Xbox keep up?

How's NVIDIA GeForce Now doing? Pretty damn good, actually.

This past week, NVIDIA GeForce Now added World of Warcraft to the service, as part of Microsoft honoring its consent to bring Activision-Blizzard games to competing cloud service platforms. Society of Warcraft joins Diablo 4 and other Microsoft games into the service, which differs from Xbox Cloud Gaming in a variety of key ways.

While Xbox's cloud service is powered by repurposed Xbox console hardware, NVIDIA essentially provides virtual machines that run on full-blown Windows. The downside is that you often need to log in and tinker with settings repeatedly on every new virtual machine, the upside is that the cloud servers handle video encoding far better than Xbox's cloud. NVIDIA GeForce Now is often less susceptible to issues stemming from sub-par networking environments, and Society of Warcraft proved that to me this week, as I tested it out on very sub-par hotel Wi-Fi.

It made me wonder if Microsoft can realistically grab up to NVIDIA in this space.

For those who don’t recognize what GeForce Now is:

It’s a cloud gaming service you can pay monthly. You don’t require to have a decked out PC to get the max graphics. There’s three tiers

A free tier: which gives you 1 hour of play time before it kicks you off with the bare minimum graphics

A $10 tier which gives you 1080p resolution with only 6 hours of session, after that you’ll get kicked out and acquire to requeue to play again

A $20 tier which gives you 4k resolution and 8 hours of session.

I thought someone said streaming the game is against some arbitrary “rules”.

Looks favor once again, rules can be changed.

And that means the game can be streamed onto the Nintendo Switch later.

Its a 10 year partnership with Microsoft and Nvidia. And because Blizzard is part of Microsoft now… Kinda makes meaning why

Cloud Gaming for WoW

Hello

For the upcoming expension “Shadowlands” i need a new PC.
But its more and more common that cloud gaming platform(s) like “Nvidia GeForce Now” or “Shadow” is used instead of buying a new PC.
Is there a recommendation from blizzard ? Is there a “Gaming as a Service” Provider that offers World of Warcraft ? Otherwise can i use a “Desktop as a Service” Provider? Or is everything against the terms of licence?

No form of “cloud gaming” is allowed by Blizzard at the presiding time. You can review the legal info at your leisure here: https://www.blizzard.com/en-gb/legal/

Nothing official here, but considering Activision Blizzard and Google have entered a multi-year relationship I wouldn’t be surprised if it’ll eventually be on Stadia.
