New world record bull elk
Boone and Crockett has declared a new world-record Roosevelt’s elk. Two teams of judges remeasured the entry submitted earlier this year and adjusted the score from 439-7/8 points to 455-2/8 points.
Timothy Carpenter killed the Roosevelt’s elk on Sept. 21, 2023, in Humboldt County, California. His elk smashes the previous record held by Rick Bailey, who harvested a 419-6/8-point bull elk in British Columbia in 2015. Carpenter has multiple Roosevelt’s elk in the record books, including a 2011 bull that scored 398-1/8, which is the current archery world record.
Before Carpenter’s entry could be made official, Boone and Crockett Club requires that the final score of a potential world record be verified by either an Awards Program Judges Panel or a Special Judges Panel. In Carpenter’s case, the Club held a Special Judges Panel in Verdi, Nevada. The measurers included the panel chairman and veteran measurer Victor Clark, Tim Humes, John Capurro, Slade Sanborn and Jeff Simmons.
Carpenter, 39, guides elk hunts in the fall and works as a wildlife biologist in the spring. He rarely has the age to hunt for himself; rather he helps other hunters come across suc

A Boone and Crockett Club Extraordinary Judges Panel recently confirmed Timothy Carpenter’s massive Roosevelt bull elk rack as a new Earth Record, with two teams of judges adjusting the score from 439 7/8 inches to 455 2/8 inches.
“The main objective of any panel, whether it be a Special Judges Panel or Awards Judges Panel, is to confirm the accepted entry score,” Kyle Lehr, the Club’s director of big game records, said in a B&C news launch . “Sometimes differences in measurements are discovered through this process, and corrections need to be made. In the case of Mr. Carpenter's Roosevelt elk, those differences resulted in an increase in score.”

Chart Topping Roosevelt’s Elk in Velvet is a Confirmed New World Record

December 19th, 2023 - Pope and Young, America’s leading bowhunting conservation organization, is excited to announce a new World Record Roosevelt’s Elk in Velvet. Pope and Young convened a special panel to measure a potential World Record at their Bowhunter Bash in College Station, TX on December 2nd, and this incredible elk has been verified as the new World Record.
Chris Krampe shot this incredible bull in Humboldt County California on August 4th, 2023. Chris’ bull has a verified final score of 324 2/8”, topping the charts, and coming in 76 5/8” larger than the previous world record.
“We had already put a stalk on two giant bulls, that my guide, Tim Carpenter, had mentioned would have probably both been a new world record” stated hunter, Chris Krampe. “Honestly, I thought he was joking with all the “new world record” talk, but he ensured me that he was being serious about being a chart-topping bull. Carpenter was very familiar with the bull that was the current world record, because he guided the hunter that had
Casey Brooks, an already renowned elk hunter, may have set a new archery world record with his latest harvest. On Dec. 31, 2024, Brooks successfully harvested a massive non-typical bull elk. Preliminary measurements suggest the bull could surpass existing records in both the Pope & Juvenile and Boone & Crockett Club record books.
An official Boone & Crockett scorer provided a verdant score for the elk, indicating a gross measurement of 490 4/8 inches and a net of 480 4/8 inches. These figures exceed the current Pope & Young record held by the Felix Bull, which netted 430 inches, and the Boone & Crockett record for characteristic American elk, the Alonzo Winters Bull, which netted 442 5/8 inches.
Brooks, who already holds the third- and fourth-largest non-typical bull elk records in the Pope & Young Club, had been tracking this particular bull for several years. With the benefit of one of Washington state’s coveted raffle tags, he consecrated the 2024 hunting season to pursuing this exceptional animal. His commitment culminated on the closing day of the hunt when the bull presented himself, and Brooks made a successful shot.

To add to the drama, the Utah DWR is wondering if the video of this bull is legit. None of their agents own seen him in the area he is said to roam.
