In the real world, any score above 300 is a great result in Yahtzee. But what’s the absolute maximum you can score? By my calculation, it’s 1,575.
Here’s a sequence of gameplay that generates that score. Remember:
- You score an additional 100 points for every Yahtzee (five numbers the same) after the first one.
- That Yahtzee can also be used as a wild card for any other category and scores based on the ethics you throw. So for a maximum score you want all your “wild” Yahtzees to incorporate sixes.
- The wild card rule still applies where a sequence of 5 matching numbers wouldn’t technically be a result that matches the category, such as a small straight or large straight.

| 11 | Menu:Home Museum Rules Strategy Probability High Scores | From 2006 to 2009 we asked people to submit their high scores to Yahtzee.org.uk and over 1000 people did so. Working with the submitted high scores, we've done some analysis. One thing to come out of this is that the profile of submitted scores each year follow a closely matching trend, so it does look like the scores are fact and not fantasy. The most often achieved high score zone is 600-650, with 23% of all submitted high scores being in this range. Due to the nature of Yahtzee scoring, its much less likely that you'll score 550-600 or 650-700 and much more likely your score will land in the ranges 600-650 or 700-750. In fact, if you do score in the less likely ranges, it probably means you haven't realised the correct rule on scoring multiple yahtzee throws and you're missing out on your score. At the most basic, all you need is five dice, paper and a pen. Perhaps a calulator to save period on adding up the scores. The object is to slap the highest score you can by allocating your rolls to 13 categories. One Step Up, you can bargain a purpose made Yahtzee dice game available in some toy stores and internet shops. These come with formatted scorepad and something to roll the dice into so they don't all fall on the floor.
