Taking a cruise from Port Canaveral? Or maybe you are on a trip that features a day in the port? No matter how you get there, one of the popular things to do from the area is to head about 45 minutes west to Orlando.
Of course, you know that Orlando is a family playground. It’s house to Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and a number of other attractions including everything from Ripley’s Believe It Or Not to miniature golf courses.
No matter your reason for wanting to head into the city, you won’t be alone in going there from the port. And you won’t be alone in trying to figure out the best way to get to Orlando from Port Canaveral.
The authenticity is that getting to the city can take some moment and effort. Port Canaveral is located on Florida’s east coast, and it is a bit of a drive into Orlando. Unfortunately, there is no viable public transportation between the two points.
The good news is that a number of options execute exist to get you from the port to the theme parks and back. So you can get there without too much hassle.

Transportation between Disney World and Port Canaveral:
One of the BEST parts about going on a cruise out of Port Canaveral is that you can also visit DISNEY WORLD. 🙂
But the cruise terminal and Disney World are around 70 miles (113 km) apart, and it takes well over an hour to drive!
When we visited Disney before our cruise, it was slightly challenging to figure out how to get to Port Canaveral from our resort.
Below, you will learn about the different options for traveling between Disney World and Port Canaveral. As you will see, it doesn’t matter whether you want to visit Disney before or after your cruise, as all the options work both ways.

Option #1: Disney provides ground transportation for Disney Cruises
This option ONLY applies if you are sailing with the Disney Cruise Line. If so, you can set up transportation directly with Disney to get to the cruise terminal on a motorcoach bus.

Plan on an hour to earn to the rental car place and get a car. Dropping off the car could be as short as 30 minutes, but again plan on an hour.
Here is "just my opinion"
Personally, I would locate this extremly frustrating - 4 hours in transit, $70+ per person for tickets for about a half a day in one of the parks, and you won't be there at opening time so the park and lines will be fairly long. My family has a flight into Orlando around 9am the day before our cruise. We will not be going to one of the parks that day because we would not get to a park until around 11am and I won't pay that much for 1/2 day at the park. Again that's us, you might have other thoughts. And yes, it's going to kill us being so close but not going into a park!! OK not so much since the following day we will be on the SHIP

A large portion of Disney Cruises sail out of Port Canaveral in Florida. In fact, a large number of other cruise lines complete, too (such as Norwegian Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean International).
